Looking for an oiler
« on: September 26, 2003, 08:15:53 PM »
I am looking for a ball that I can keep very dull, to use when the outsides have a lot of oil, and there may even be some carrydown.  My choices are a V2 Strong, a Fuel, Apex Addiction, or possibly even the new Fear Factor.  I understand the Throttle and Phenom are excellent balls for oil, but I haven't had good luck with Columbia/Track paricle coverstocks in the past.  I am partially leaning toward the V2 Strong since this may be a ball I don't use that much, I could get that a little cheaper than the others.  Thanks for the help.

I think the Super Carbide Bomb is rated higher in BTM, as far as hook goes. It's cover is a high load particle, that comes with a dull finish, which is better for heavy oil.

The key is to get the ball into a heavy roll on heavy oil. Lane #1 balls probably roll heavier than all other balls, due to their diamond core. =:^D

I have heard fantastic things about the Super Carbide Bomb, but again this is kind of a very condition specific ball that I probably won't ever take to leagues and will use very seldom even in tournaments, so I'm kind of leaning against paying the extra money for a Lane 1.  All things being equal though, that probably is the best ball, or very close to it.

If you're going to/can use a dull ball in leagues, then this ball won't be condition specific for you. It may be for others, in it's out of box dull condition, but not for you. =:^D

I find the V2 Strong to be an excellent choice! I own two and love them.
