Proper Technique
« on: January 17, 2008, 04:16:09 AM »
I know it's difficult to offer advise without seeing a video.  However, I need to create more lift during my release.  The ball barely gets out on the lane.  I've talked to others before and they recommended trying to keep my shoulders back toward the center of my body.  Is this the right way to go about this problem?  I can see what they are saying, by bending forward the bottom of your swing gets behind where it started.  Is there something I can visualize in order for this to stick?  Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Using a target farther out on the lane works for me.

In practice take an extra towel, fold it in half length wise and lay it by the foul line out on the lane. The start by just taking the last two strides in your approach and try to get the ball out over the towel. Then you can move back for your full approach.

if your wrist and arm can take it, you might want to try an outside-in swing. start of with your normal swing, but get your hand on the inside of the ball. then, in the down swing, loop it inside towards your ankle slightly. this will help generate revs at the release. a few power pros use it-jason couch and tommy jones to name a few. if you have any questions, shoot me a message. hope i helped!
