Need a ruling if i was right or wrong?
« on: March 22, 2006, 02:55:33 AM »
I called a fellow league bowler on a foul line infraction.  He threw his shot off balance tried to catch his balance and stayed be hind the foul line on his lane but eventually cuaght his balance on the lanes surface over the foul line on the next lane over.  I told him that was a foul and told him that the foul line extends all the way across the building and just does not pertain to him on his lane only and made him throw his shot over was i right in doing this or was i wrong?

Boy do I love bowling, stone 8,stone 9, ringer 7,fly by 10,fast six got to love this game.  Short look at what most of my games look like with a few strikes peppered in between.  Isn't it wonderful.

I believe it also extends UP the walls as well. so if you are bowling on the first or last lane right against the wall, and you touch the wall past the foul line, that's a foul

you were right about it being a foul... but he doesn't get to do his shot over again, he gets a zero for the shot and if it was a strike ball he shoots his second ball as if he had a gutter.

In agreement as well, it was a foul.  In my old bowling center
lane 1 had a wall next to the gutter, the wall actually had a
line painted just for these types of issues.

I seem to recall that when I learned to bowl (had to dodge the carnosaurs on the way to the lanes) that it was also a foul to infringe on the neighboring lanes territory, i.e., if you ran a shot out you fouled.  Was this an actual foul or just the way they taught lane etiquette to kids?

it's not a foul to go onto a neighbooring lane.  you may get hit by a bowling ball, but it's not a foul as long as you don't touch anything past the foul line.
