embarrasing and heartbreaking moment in bowling
« on: October 15, 2009, 01:15:53 AM »
last night, a guy in my league who had never shot 300 before, had the front 11. Half of the alley stopped to watch his final shot and wouldn't you know it...he dumped it in the gutter half way down the lane! XXXXXXXXXXX- =290...Very heartbreaking but it was his high game.

The stone 8 I've left twice is much worse on the emotions. I dunno, the 3 stone 9's were unpleasant too. I'd rather have thrown it in the gutter before the arrows than to feel like I made a great shot and just got BF'd out of it. In fact, next time I think I will just chuck the POS in the gutter and forget about it!

God (if he/she exists) is a cruel *******!

Back in the early 90's my home house gave out $300 for a 300 game.  A real smart**ssed bowler ran the front eleven while bowling league next to the proprietor of the center.  The bowler yelled out to the proprieter to get his checkbook out and stepped up to bowl.  What happened next was probably the strangest thing I've ever seen, but the man fanned the ball wide right and somehow managed to take the 6,9 out of a full rack.  This was the first and last 292 I've seen or heard of.  For those who call bs, bowler was Darren Pitts at Parkside Lanes in Aurora, Illinois circa 1994ish I'm sure there's record of it somewhere.

I don't know if I would classify this as embarassing or not, but in my scratch league last year, I bowled a 300 game with a couple of brooklyn strikes.  The oil pattern in this league doesn't have a whole lot of hold, so it takes just a slight miss left or a slighly early laydown for it to occur. It was kind of embarassing to have all these people come down and congratulate me for something that was pure luck.  The other 300 I shot all the shots were in the pocket, I just tripped a couple of 4 pins.

There are a bunch of people that don't think I should be embarrassed at this and this past Tuesday when I got the ring, part of me didn't want it.  In hindsight, this was probably just silly because the way the shot breaks down it that league (basically no hold) unless you're a fluffer or a huge cranker. Oh well, at least the last 4 were dead flush.

I went front ten this summer,I've done it five or six times and would all ways stick the 10 pin on the 11th ball,so I get up there thinking 10 pin, nervous as I can be and hooked the ball all the way into the left ditch.Did not hit one f***ing thing.Hard to live down.

Last year I was watching my nephew bowl in his high school bowling and a kid a few lanes from him was trying to get a 7 pin. Well the ball went in the gutter and bounced out and busted the floursent lights that lit up the pins. The sound of the lights busting made alot of people jump a little.

I'd be very aggravated at people gathering around me if I were getting close.  The pressure is bad enough in my own head, yet alone with sharks circling me.

A few years ago, I watched an older guy with a down and in shot run the front 11.  12th ball came in just a little light and left the 5-7-10.  Normally in our house when someone leaves the Lilly, there's a bunch of jeering and clapping not so much this time as people weren't sure how to react to this one. Pocket hit (and this was when they were still giving out all the rings) and didn't get a ring for it.

Personally, one time when I had the front 11 I swung my 12th out and "crushed" the pocket.  I even did a little two-step walkout and an arm dig as it hit.  instead of going down, the dang 10-pin got slapped and slid perfectly upright to just behind the 5-pin spot.  There were a couple of groans, but as it were, quite a few people who knew me were laughing awfully hard at the result.  The only thing better woulda been if someone got it on their phone-cam.  Turned out to be the only 299 I've thrown so far.  -)

I hear ya man.  I bowl in a small 12 lane house, so when someone gets close, the entire place moves down to watch.

Bout this time last year, when I took a 300 into the tenth, I knew there would be the entire league watching, so I just walked back after each shot looking down at the approach...didn't want to look up.

Probably most embarrassing thing I've seen happened to one of my teamates, bout 3 weeks ago.  He's the only guy on the team younger than me, and is our leadoff bowler.  First game he throws a solid 278.  Next game, there are a lot of eyes on him, since he threw the first big score of the season.  During the second game, he managed to throw no fewer than 3 first balls in the ditch.

Another guy in this league a few years ago...real arrogant SOB...thinks he's the best around since he can rev the hell out of a ball without looking like he's doing much.  Rings 3 straight 10 pins in a row, misses all of them.  After the last one, being the cocky ass that he is, he decided to give the ball return a healthy kick.  Boy was he awfully embarrassed 5 minutes later when he took his shoe off to find all 5 toes bleeding.  The owne of the house was laughing the hardest.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago at the Vienna Open.

Desperado-Squad (1 Game. best 5 advance to the final rounds ~ 500€ safe)

Tenth Frame, working on a 7 Bagger basically needing a spare or even good count to advance... and I fouled. Most embarrassing moment ever.

You guys should remember the woman who divorce the bowler. That is the same guy when he was still marry to her. Got his balls crushed. This guy is still trying to play tricks with our minds. LOL!!!

quote:
Here is the craziest thing I have ever seen.

I a guy got a new ball drilled nd was so happy he showed it
off to everyone at the lanes before he bowled with it.

On his very first throw, the ball went/rolled real nice before
the pins and just before hitting the pins the ball went perfectly
up in the air verticle not to be seen but stuck up in the bowling pin
machine.

We heard crunch, crack.  The pin deck came down to wipe the pins away.

A moment later, the ball fell down before the pins and then
split in half.

Watching this, the guy started getting tears in his eyes.

He went to the desk.  They said they were not responsible
for plastic bowling balls.  He got in an argument with
the manager.
