756 High Set
279 High Game

Thing is... the lanes are oiled, resrufaced regularly, house is clean etc... Just a tough house. Anyone bowl in a center any lower?

Nope...even at the hardest center in the area there is usually a few 300's and the occasional 800 thrown per year.

To get that tough I would have to go back to college and bowl on the old 6 lanes we had in the basement of our gym.

My old house used to have worn out wood lanes with about enough oil just to make sure the dust sticks when it settles. Basically it was set up so that the "local" bowlers could get a ball to hook. Anyone who actually threw the ball with any sort of revs was S.O.L. unless they had super speed. The only line that seemed to carry was straight down the boards.. if you started to swing the ball, be prepared to shoot corner pins all night long. For YEARS, the house record was 762 (and only a handful of 300's ever shot). It was exceedingly rare to see anything over 260 game or 700 series. Finally about 3 yrs ago, the owner purchased used synthetic lanes from another local house (who was installing brand new ones...) and bought a new kegel lane machine. All of a sudden, the scores have been through the roof (comparitively)... this season alone, there have been 3 300's and probably 40-50 700's (I've read in the local newspaper online). I was home over christmas to visit my parents and went in one evening before leagues... I shot 690 (was was playing around using my spare ball the second game for a 218)... they turned "stupid easy"...lol

hehehe, I got one. Boise State University lanes, in the Student Union. High set this year is like 670 I believe. High Game is 279. High average is 205 maybe a little lower. There has only been 2 300s shot there in the history of the lanes, and the lanes are at least 30+ years old. There has never been an 800 shot there. Closest was 780 something by a guy who is now sponsored by storm and is a regional pro. Lanes just had synthetic overlays put on last year. Sometimes they will use the oiler (don't know the brand) which sometimes works, but tends to put less and less oil down as it goes down the lanes (can't imagine what it would be like if there was more than just 6 lanes). And sometimes the guy who runs the place will just soak a towel in oil and push it up and down the lanes, which Ironically are the better scoring nights. I have never bowled a tougher shot, and I have bowled on Several different sport shots, and modified PBA patterns, Bowled the Junior gold tournaments, and nothing compares. only thing I haven't tried is parking lot bowling... hmmmmm

I dont know the scores for the whole house but my friday night league we have had only 1 300 thrown and our high series is like 750. Granted we dont have many great bowlers most of us are between 190-210 but regardless the shot is pretty tough. Currently my average is 10 pins lower there than my other league.

Sounds like my home house! I call it "The House of Pain" !!! A guy that bowls there has the record this year with a 777. At other houses he averages about 240. Not here though! I average about 20 pins higher everywhere else I bowl! The good thing about it, since its my home house, I can go elsewhere and shred their lanes!

The local house where I grew up bowling (and left this year due to the current manager) hasn't had a 300 game in about 9 years and I think the same amount of time for an 800. Last year the high series was a 701 and the high game was 279. Over the past three years I have the high series in this house at 717. 12 lane wood house, old Century 300 oil machine, back ends are rarely stripped, side wall action non-existent.

The house I current bowl in, too many 300's and 800's to count. 868 is the high this year, and I know many guys who've had multiple 300's alone this year.
