Equipment on Chameleon
« on: April 05, 2013, 03:48:00 PM »
OK, so I am jumping back into bowling on a competitive level, and my first tournament out is going to be a 6 gamer scratch tournament on Chameleon. I just drilled a whole bunch of new stuff, and was wondering what people use mainly on the pattern. I know that lane surface is going to matter, but I only want to bring like 6 or 7 (Including plastic) with me. Here's what I have, and what I was thinking of bringing.

Freight Train
Train
Look
War Eagle
Black Eagle
Bank
Bank Roll
Hook Hybrid
Hook Sanded
Clutch Pearl
Hype Pearl

I was thinking Freight Train, Black or War Eagle, Clutch Pearl, Hook Hybrid and either the Hook Sanded or the Look.

I'm a tweener (Low end if that) with moderate ball speed. Can create some angle. I figure I would start with something middle of the road, and either ball up or down.

Any tips or suggestions?

Also, anyone in Chicagoland want to know where this is going to be? :)

Got a tournament of my own that day... Softball tournament, round robin, near Byron, IL... Otherwise I'd a been there.... With my PDWesque style, kicking ace & taking names... No sunglasses or golf glove for me though...

I'll be a little different and talk about the poster's question ...

Since friction depends on BOTH the oil amount AND the lane surface, the ball you use can vary from the high friction created by wood lanes, to the medium friction created/allowed by such synthetics as AMF HPL lanes to the very low friction created/allowed by such synthetics as Brunswick's AnvilLane surface (or the ferociously high friction created by Guardian overlay).

So your first ball could the Train/Freight Train
or
the Black Eagle/Bank
or
the War Eagle/Sanded Hook,
depending on how much friction the lane surface is adding to the oil amount from the Chameleon pattern, which usually starts outside.
