ESPN disses college bowling
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:47:27 PM »
Why in the hell does ESPN even bother?  They air the NCAA Women's Bowling Championship and they constantly cut away from the action due to time constraints!  Why?  Some contrived College Football Skills contest they are going to air next.  Really?  Who cares about college football til the NFL Draft?

LGD,

Just another way that the "powers that be" no longer consider bowling as a real sport, just a sideline curiosity they can air to kill some time.

Heck, they even make better shows out of card playing than they do bowling anymore, and probably take it more seriously as well.

It would appear the ESPN does not care much for bowling or bowlers. I would much rather have them show the whole show at 3:00am in the morning. At least I would be able to record the whole thing.

They aired it in its entirety yesterday around 5pm on ESPNU. Today was a replay that's why they skipped ahead.

Okaaaay. Still, why put it on if you ahve to rush the replay for the 2013 College Football All-Stars Skills Challenge whatever the hell that is.  Some of us didn't know it was on Saturday.

I watched the replay at 3 am yesterday and it was not very exciting at all. Watching Nebraska womens bowling team throw close to 15 year old equipment (Rock On and Pulse Remakes) is not must see tv. Ill admit, I was watching to see just how poorly those balls hit and deflected when they hit the pocket.

Face it, most heterosexual men are watching any sembelance of college football over college womens bowling. ESPN is  in the business of getting ratings, putting womens collegiate bowling on vs college football does not meet market demand.

Oh now you tell me.  I could be watching the skills challenge instead of woman's baker bowling on a sport condition!?

That is tough stuff watching that type of bowling.  One must be very dedicated.

College football skills contest with 1st round quarterbacks potential.  Oh yeah!

PS I am taping Gruden QB shows right now while the Master's is on!
PPS just so none of the fairer sex get on me.  I do watch and admire the talent of the ladies when they are not playing baker style.  Those girls can bowl!  But in baker on a tough shot....low scores often and tough to get the rhythm

It is bowling, it is respected less then womens NCAA basketball. A few years ago when bowling made the big deal of having a Major on network television again it got bumped in my local market for mens basketball. Not even one of the state teams just two random teams in the same conference.

Why??? Because more people would flip and stop to watch it then mens bowling. Seriously ask any one you know who doesn't bowl about watching bowling and see what they say. You know the ones that when you tell them your average go...Wow why aren't you PRO?
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I saw that on ESPNU yesterday and was wondering if I was seeing things with the Pulse and Rock On being thrown.  Even more interesting was seeing those outwork the Enigma...

I was just happy that they showed it at all!!!!!!!

But would have been nice to maybe see some highlights of other schools matches to get to the finals, versus the same 2 teams play portions of best of 7 games for the championship.

If you're gonna air something, air it . . yeah, women's college bowling is really painful to watch, but if you're gonna put something on the air, don't cut it up to the point where there ISN'T a point.
