Etonics on Pro Anvilane Synthetic Approaches
« on: January 26, 2011, 03:43:23 AM »
I just purchased a new pair of Etonics with the interchangable soles.  I am having a very hard time sticking on Pro Anvilane synthetic approaches.  I may as well bowl in tennis shoes because I barely slide at all.  I am using the #8 sole, which slides the most of the soles which came with the shoes.  I am thinking of either getting another companies soles (3G, Dexter) and cutting them to fit my Etonics, or getting the Etonic #10 sole.  Anyone have the same issue, and what did you do?

Thanks.

Ive always hated synthetic approaches, Never gotten a consistent slide on them.

Anvilane to me has always been a extremely tacky surface or extremely slick surface, never bowled on one that was anywhere similar to or as consistent as wood approaches.

I would just try to get a slicker slide sole, dexters 10 is like standing on ice.

I was researching Etonic shoes awhile back and most folks had the same complaint as you.

I'm not sure using another companies soles will completely solve your problem. You can try the #10 sole and see if that helps. You may have to go to a Teflon pad or a slide sock to slide the way you want. This is why I haven't bought bowling shoes from Etonic......they don't offer adjustable heels on their shoes.

I can give a  to Smash49.  Their product works very good.  I was going to update a previous post, but this is as good a place as any.  I bought the Slide Sock for one particular house.  They resurfaced the approaches and they were extremely slick for a while.  However, when I went to a lower numbered heel/sole combination, I got very inconsistent results.  Most of the time I'd be fine, but occasionally I'd stick or slide excessively.  Not knowing what's going to happen is much worse than sticking or over sliding.  I tried the Slide Sock and couldn't be happier.

A few weeks ago it popped off while removing my shoe cover.  I figured I'd try without it since quite a few weeks had gone by.  At two of the houses I had no problems at all.  No "need" for the Slide Sock.  At my original problem house I threw two shots and about killed myself.  Put the Sock back and and had no further problems.  Although I really only need it at one house, I just leave it on for consistency's sake.  If you have a place that gives you fits, Smash's Slide Sock is definitely worth a shot.

I think the problem with the Etonics is the lack of an interchangeable heel. I had the same issues and had to go to Dexters. Anyone want a pair of 11.5W Etonics?

The interchangeable heel makes a big difference.  I test with a pair of Dynaroos and a pair of Etonic ESL Classics and there is a big difference.  I prefer the waffle heel on the Dynaroos.  The Etonic does stop quicker.  On Linds I have used teflon on the front of the heal to stop a sticking issue.  SLSM Designs does build custom socks.  We have one customer that is over 400lbs.  For this customer we have extended the sock to cover the front edge of the heel.  We are one of the few companies that really test slide sock technology.  SLSM Designs products were originally developed to solve issues senior scratch bowlers here in the southwest were having at SASBA stops.  We have tested all over the country on different surfaces and conditions. All of the products are made with laser precision and parts are computer designed for assembly  This allows us to modify our products quickly and to customize.   We have made socks for shoes size 4 to size 20!
