Playin real deep on sport
« on: November 26, 2010, 02:14:30 PM »
What kind of equipment and layouts are people using when you are playing real deep fifth and sixth arrow on sport deep into squads? I am a high rev medium ball speed player. I beleive my axis is 5 1/16 by 5/8 up not sure if that is right or makes sense. I find my pearls pin ups are to aggressive off friction. my solids roll to early and pin under hits like a noodle any suggestions

Maybe a pin down strong pearl or a pin up weak pearl. Also surface can play a big difference in it. Try taking your high polish and hitting it with 4000 abralon, or even a light hit with 2000 abralon.

My favorites currently are a pin under the ring c-system 2.5 and a pin above the ring wild ride. Both of these generally stay at 4k abralon.

Also, carry is tough when you're that deep. Best bet to have good carry is to find a way to use a reaction that you view as too aggressive off the friction. If it's tending to go through the face, and you just cant move left enough, try getting a little more up the back of the ball. You'd think it would make it roll too early, but by the time you're this far left, you've got enough oil to get it down lane, and going up the back will make it roll forward at the pocket instead of cornering and going through the face.

Ditto...if the pearls are jumpy just knock the polish off and they should be a little more gentle off the spot.

When I bowled on Shark, I was most successful with a Storm Furious and Columbia Freeze, but both are drilled with an arc type drill, not pin up.  I personally don't like pin down for me.
I've even used a Recon RX1 with some moderate success.
As others have said, take down the polish.  Taking a pearl ball to 2000 will give a different look.  Pin up just may not be ideal for you and your release on that type of condition.  Anything that is too skid/snappy will make your life miserable on a condition where you need to play that deep.
