I participate every now and then in a tournament called ABTA here in Southern California. It is a weekly tournament with a top prize of $1,000.00. The tournament has your normal brackets and side pots and stuff. It is a nice tournament to partake in. However, this Sunday's tournament was quite a different story. I did not bowl good. That's fine. It's not a big deal. People bowl bad all the time.
I know a guy who averages about 205 on my Tuesday night league. However, in his Monday night league he averages 185 (4 Rounds: Modified House Shot, Dry Shot, Oiled Shot, Sport Shot), and he books 186 from last season. He presented that information to the tournament director, and was granted 21 sticks of handicap.
He proceeds to get into 20 brackets, and all of the sidepots, winning most of them by going +256. He did the same in the semi-finals by going +152. However, the tournament director decided to disqualify him for "BOWLING TOO GOOD." Can that be done??? He presented proper average requirements showing that he not only averages 185 in a league, but had that as his book average on his USBC card. They gave him a free entry to their next tournament with 4 stick of handicap.
His response to them: I'll win your tournament, and donate all the money right back to you
He just wanted to bowl. The guy has cash, he didn't need the money.
Do you think this is fair??
I have decided to boycott this tournament and focus on ABT or Donkee Tour better.
