Extreme drilling question...
« on: April 10, 2005, 01:01:09 PM »
Hi, I am going to redrill a Red/black vendetta and I am making an experiment..

The ball has a 5" pin (long no???)

Well, I want it to go loooong and then make the sharpest breakpoint that the core can give me (Yes, I am drilling it to play tricks in med-dry, I want a hockey stick breakpoint)

I thought about a 5" 1/2 pin and a 5" MB, but I am not sure if that MB position is going to give me the sharpest angle... If anyone has a suggestion about MB placement, I am happy to hear it!!!

First of all, the vendetta is a symmetric ball and therefore, mb placement will play a very insignificant role in ball reaction.

Second, I would think a 4 1/2 inch pin to axis, 3 1/2 inches above midline layout would be about as flippy as you can get with your style on the lane conditions you are looking to use it on.

You can always adjust surface as needed to get the desired ball reaction also.

You say MB has no influence but you don't say where I should put the CG either... Remember that 6 3/4 from your pin thru your CG is a symmetrical ball MB and Core orientation obviously has some influence over ball reaction.

Your drilling is a med-high flare drilling, but you don't say anything about CG positioning...

Because as I didn't mention but implied, the cg does not matter in a symmetric bowling ball. Put it where you'll get 3/4 positive side for room to put a weighthole in the ball if you want after you throw the ball.
