I started a short summer league at a nearby house. On a whim, I asked the owner how the dress their lanes. He said "tophat from the foul line to 20ft., and buff to 40ft." Its kind of cool seeing the old guys get big hooks from their old rubber and plastic balls. Its discouraging to watch my average drop 30+ pins but they do sell beer so I guess all is not lost!
In the time of high tech balls, dressing machines, lane surfaces, 220+ averages, etc., its
almost fun to bowl at this place. Maybe this is what bowling is really about. Anybody else out there bowl at one of these old houses?-MB
