Fall Leagues -2021
« on: August 19, 2021, 09:51:10 AM »
Question for those in the South/Midwest who are starting their seasons in August, how does your team numbers/membership looking for the upcoming season?

Here in the Northeast (NYC), we are showing an increase interest in returning to leagues which start after Labor Day.  Currently we are looking at doubling our league size from last year.

A problem we are starting to hear after yesterday's announcement that bowlers need to be vaccinated, we have a couple of members who are against the vaccination which will result in losing a couple of teams.   Thankfully, mask wearing in the centers are optional.

Our local center lost a few teams but gained a few more as well, so it's been pretty much a wash. The center IS requiring that masks be worn , thankfully.

Please tell me what type of mask is being used that you can bowl in and not get winded?  My wife and I sat out last year but have started going down and practicing a little.  I have tried a few different masks and, so far, have not found one that I can breath in while bowling.  I just ordered some "medical" disposable masks and I'll be trying those next week.  We plan to bowl in league this fall and, while my center does not require masks, I'd feel a little better wearing one if I could find the right kind.  We both have been vaccinated but I don't know about the others in the league.

I use this one myself, even used it in Vegas. Doesn't fog up glasses and you can breath and talk normally. It's adjustable so it fits your face very well.

I've used these. I think I've got 5 or 6 of them now so I can rotate through and wash after sweating in it.

I have this mask. Thankfully can just go maskless in NY now.
This is a fake mesh mask. It's cammo so the mesh isn't that obvious. Can breathe right through it like it's nothing.

I would never get vaccinated to bowl. This is fascist tyranny and I will never go along with any of it.

Then I would suggest to do yourself a favor and don't bowl. People are not going to risk getting sick or dying for your comfort, because tyranny.

Besides, If New York decides to invoke Jacobsen v. Massachusetts as precedent, you may not have a choice.

i'm guessing there are a lot of  people who would be okay with you not bowling.
