Fall struggles continuing into summer

Well, so much for "new season....new beginning".  

My lack of carry towards the last 7-8 weeks of the fall season was aggravating, resulting in my being anywhere from 8-14 pins down in my respective leagues.

And so it has carried into the summer, with last night being the culmination of all the frustration of late fall season.

That resulted in a 30-clean, 582 effort.  By the end of the night, the other team just patted me on the shoulder, shook their heads and didn't say a word.

Just for giggles, I stayed after league and tried to work out some kinks.  That resulted in another 30-clean 618 series.  Well, at least that set was a no-tap 900.

Sorry, just venting.

Try something different.  Change up your release a little.  Try coming up the back of the ball a little more with a little more speed.  See what happens.  My carry certainly improved when I stopped trying to "turn" the ball and focused on just "rolling" it.  (I've only got about a 250rpm rev rate, but if I'm playing the lanes properly, I carry just about as well as any of the higher rev guys on most shots.)

That is certainly an option, Dan.  Although I think I may have tried, I can't really say with any degree of certainty how much attention to detail I paid to release changes or how long I stuck with a "changed" release.

I will try to do what you suggested in a stepwise fashion, changing my hand position and release(s) gradually until I see some better results.

The worst thing you can do if you're bowling poorly is to keep doing the same thing.  The only way you find if something works is to try it.

Also, you don't happen to have video of you bowling, do you?

Sorry Dan, I'm pretty much technologically on the "short bus".  I really should be better about that.

Maybe I'll get the camera out and have someone tape me this weekend.  It could only help.

Dont feel bad I am also having the same trouble. was carring 210 average and am now fighting to keep it above 200. The last couple weeks I have been in the pocket every shot and either have solid back row pins or splits like 7-9 8-10 or 7-10. I have tried to play the lane different tried to change balls and ball surface and nothing seems to have helped in the slightest bit.

J-Mac,

I'm with you.  I've been playing golf for about 8 years, and as soon as the weather breaks 45 degrees up here, I'm out there about once/twice per week.
