Have Rival, Kinetic, Venus....what to add?
« on: January 10, 2008, 07:16:20 AM »
I'm getting a new ball as part of my payment for designing a local pro shop's website.  I don't really NEED anything at this point, and wouldn't pick up anything if it wasn't free.

Anywho, you can take a gander at my profile if you like to see what I'm carrying now.  I have a Rival drilled for an early roll, a Kinetic drilled pretty standard pin above right, and a high pin Venus.  I rarely see a use for the last, as if I'm on REAL toast I'll throw the Kinetic hard or throw my spare ball.  I bowl in leagues once a week and bowl tourneys 2 or 3 times a month.

A couple of options have sprung to mind already.  One being the Black Widow Bite, just because I hear how great the Widow series is and I'd like to see for myself.  I've also kicked around the notion of trying out a L/LM piece, though I'm kind of lost as to what I would get in that line.  Outside of those, I'm fairly open to just about anything.  My release has improved quite a bit, so I no longer have a fear of assymmetricals as in the past.

If you ever run into heavy oil I would say maybe a Resurgence or the Bite. The Resurgence is stronger in oil, but the Bite is the strongest ball off the dry I have ever seen.

I do sometimes have issues with the heavier stuff.

I'd take a look at the L/L Black Pearl...
It is a ball, I guarantee you'd love the ball.

The Black Pearl would also be a very good choice.

I think you need a heavier oil ball. There's tons out there. Special Agent, Black Widow Bite, Attitude Shift, Gamebreaker, etc. If you like a snappy reaction but also very strong in oil, the Attitude Shift might be a good choice.

Is the Bite a heavier oil ball?

The Special Agent would definitely fit in there for the soupier stuff. I have never really had any success with the heavier oil balls...(The Animal was a dude for me twice....even Mitch Beasley who drilled up number 2 for me couldn't believe it).  The Special Agent has worked wonders for me.  Handles heavy oil with no problem...and is good on the mediums (but you have better choices for that).  It gets into a roll early but is able to retain drive/continuation through the whole lane.  I am not a big storm fan but this really is an outstanding ball and would give you a great look in the soup.

Hope this helps!

I don't know if the Bite is a heavy oil ball, but definitely stronger than what you have.

It doesn't really shy away from oil, but it makes its move once it hits the dry boards and it moves hard. It did seem to slide a little in oily heads but I had to swing it a little so most balls will do that. Where as most of the big oil balls out there, are going to begin there move in the oil and cut through it better than the Bite IMO.

i really like the rising. On all poiny=ts its a good ball for anything where you can find some friction. I cant use mine on heavier oil ,but on anything else its a monstor, or maybe i am the monstor and it has woken me up ,yeah that sounds better ,lol.

For a heavy oil ball that will probably provide a similar earlier arc to your Rival the L/LM Terminator would fit the bill.

Suggest a reaction and condition you want and I'm sure someone would be able to tell you out of their other equip.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.  I'm also getting a lesson out of the deal (he's a silver level coach) so of course I'll listen to his suggestions as well!
