I'm really starting to miss bowling.Like really missing it!
« on: January 07, 2021, 04:15:19 PM »
Started a nice little 4 man sport league that's been lockdown since before Thanksgiving here in the D. I doubt it will return and I just may give it up. Anyone else feel the same?
The harder I try the harder they fall

Shut downs and restarts will be par for the course for the next several months until the vaccine is widely administered, unfortunately.  Try not to let it get you down.  We were fortunate here that after the initial 3-4 month shut down last year, our bowling center has remained open (even defying the Governor's recent 3 week shutdown over the holidays.)

Business is still down overall, but it is slowly coming back.

I won't say that I am not envious, because I am. We're coming up on a year of nothing in NorCal. Making it worse for me, I have 3 balls NIB that I can't drill or take to get drilled. So I'm definitely chomping at the bit.

In the meantime I've taken the time to get into the science better, understanding how layouts work, especially with dual angle, so I can take the guesswork out of the PSO's hands and tell them exactly what I want and how I want it.

So now, I have to do what everyone else in here really despises the most: wait.

We were closed 8 weeks in the beginning before opening up which has been amazing.  The issue is with limited capacity businesses are still struggling.  We have one centers on the verge of closing and others that are looking to cut hours to try and save on cost.

For the places that have been closed for 6-10 months now I dont think many realize how many you will lose even when things open back up

We have been closed down since mid November.  Honestly didnt see the need to shut down league bowling as we had rules:  1) everyone wear a mask  2) Bowlers only, no spectators  3) the staff wiped and disinfected the surfaces regularly and 4) no sharing of bowling equipment

started 2020 with 3 bowling centers and at least one of them has shut down.  from what I heard, they have sold the building to a developer that has the intent to demo and build some fast food join or 2.

We shutdown early March 2020 and did not try to re-open at all.  It was announced in December 2020 that my home center would entertain the thought of re-opening in late 2021 or early 2022!  I actually sold all my equipment, except for my spare ball, but I do have 10 NIB which will be outdated by the time we get to bowl again.

I'm not dying of COVID and no one I know is dying of COVID, so I will continue to talk about whatever I want other than COVID.

But thanks for your input on the matter. Perhaps a non-bowling site might have a subject more suitable for you.

I'd actually have to disagree. The way things are going with as minimal bowling that is going on, nothing would really be outdated because nothing is being used or tracked out!

Then again, I'm assuming that the balls are NIB as of the past 12 months. That's how my three are right now. You'd have a point if they were, say, 2-3 years or older.. I mean, I would be hesitant in punching up a Scandal, Warrior, Maverick, etc.
