Title: Favorite ball review videos?
Post by: Gizmo823 on February 14, 2014, 10:51:06 AM
I'd have to say my favorite ball review videos are from Buddies Pro Shop, either Chris Forry or Scott Widmer.  I can get a REALLY good read on a ball watching them throw it.  What are your favorites?

I like Britton's reviews. Too bad he has stopped doing 900 Global and AMF videos.

I second this post. Fred Borden has some nice instructional videos, too.

LD Dawn or sk8sbowlingreviews on youtube. I like how both of them do a great job showing different lines with the balls rather than just watching 15 shots right over the top of each other.

honestly, the only video ball review that i've ever seen that made me WANT to have a ball was the Mike Fagan video done on the 811c/t ..  I was just like WOW the motion of the ball was just different..

I've seen most of the ball review video's on youtube, and it's kinda ehhhh   I mean 99% of them are nothing but strikes..  And even when they say it's on a Sport shot, its nothing but strikes..  which is unrealistic..

As for Tony Ruocco, while he is probably a good bowler.. its kind of tough to get a good judgement of a ball when almost all of his ball drillings are Pin down and CG off to the right...  I did a Reign Of Fire, with a similar drilling to the ROF he did a video on, and mine no joke rolled out at about 20ft...  So how he was able to use his on a THS with 20units of oil is something i'd like to know..

but thats just my thoughts

Yeah, I feel the same about Tony.  Plus he's on the rev heavy side so everything he throws looks smoother than it really is.  I bet if he's not striking all he's leaving are 10 pins though, the guy is good.

Jason Kovack at ballreviewscanada shoots awesome vids.  I like the quality of the camera, the different camera angles and that he uses the same layout on every ball.
My only concern is that the house shot has such a defined trough that it doesn't truly show how different each ball rolls.

Yeah I subscribe to his channel.  I really don't like the layout he uses for everything though, if you're trying to show off a ball on a house shot, I don't think 50x5x70 is the way to go . . but yeah, very high video quality, he puts a lot into the vids.  I still get a lot out of them, but more of a "house shot killer" layout would make the balls look better.
