I'm a 2 point system bowler (the arrows and breakpoint) BUT I do use the "feel" aspect of it with regards to hand position at release.  The "feel" comes in when I have to manipulate the ball with that hand position.  Sometimes you have to put some "touch" on it.  I consider myself a bit of both.  Arrows and breakpoint can tell you if you're in the correct part of the lane, the rest is operator ability.

All that said, you must be able to repeat shots.

Whatever gives me energy downlane and whatever line / hand postition / ball I need to throw to strike, that's what I'll do.  I'll go up the boards if needed OR inside and hook it....but I'm not the "throw it right and watch it hook" bowler JUST BECAUSE (and for no real reason) it's "cool".  Striking is cool, wheeling it and struggling isn't....but if I need to.....I'll be ready.

I used to be a feel bowler until I did a coaching session at Kegel. After I threw 10 shots,  I was asked, "what are you looking at?" Like a moron,  I replied "I don't know". Since that session I use the tri-targeting method.

This system has helped get rid of "bobble head syndrome". No targeting for me, made me head wiggle around, which lead to pulled shots and spraying the ball all over.

I'm a little bit of both. When on a challenging condition, I tend to target more, and focus more.

On a typical house shot, I am primarily feel and area bowling.

I look at the pins, so I guess that makes me a 'feel' bowler.  I tried spot bowling once and it gave me a headache.  I look at it this way, whether you look at the pins or a spot, we are all trying to repeat a shot.

Target. I look at the dots when I need an earlier reaction and at the arrows if the ball starts checking up on me too quick. If im bowling well I see my ball hit within a couple boards of were im aiming, if im not then hopefully its just league so it doesnt matter.

Target, but I admit sometimes I lose focus and start bowling by feel. It has little effect on my shotmaking, to be honest.

Even though I was a deadly accurate bowler, I was almost entirely a "feel" (or an "instinct") player.

I never looked at anything specific ... AFTER making a "mental line" of exactly where an ideal roll would go ... and the "mental line" would involve a "mental path" which DID include several "targeting points" on the lane ... but during the actual delivery, I wasn't looking at anything in particular.

I had confidence that if I executed the shot that I pictured on the "mental line" that the shot would be good -- in part, based on previous shots -- and I was quite good at repeating shots (although whereas I was extremely accurate, I never rolled anything close to what could be called a powerful ball).

Translated: I was a "feel/instinct" bowler all the way.
