Recommendations for a Ball up from Motiv Rebel Tank
« on: September 29, 2017, 09:32:58 PM »
Love my Motiv Rebel Tank

Im in a league on Sunday night on lanes that are used non-stop all day (Think kids birthday parties and recreational bowlers). My Motiv Rebel Tank is a savior on these conditions & I take the Jesper Svensson approach. Theres usually a little oil out there left. Sometimes the Rebel Tank goes pretty straight & I cant hook it in enough but my other ball the Storm Sky Rocket HP2 pearl goes sideways.

Im looking for something that is a weak reactive that can keep me right when the Motiv Tank isnt hooking & not as strong as the Sky Rocket. Im a bit nervous to get a full urethane because of the lane conditions, I'd probably burn up the track very fast

I was thinking Fantatic BTU pearl or the Motiv Freestyle Black\Blue low friction pearl.  Ive researched a lot & watched a bunch of videos but my conditions & approach are SO different. Its seems every company is trying to make their low end equipment try to hook as much as their higher end line lately too.

Thanks
Mike

have you considered a Tank Rampage?

Yes I have, it was a close second behind the BTU pearl. We play on fried lanes so I was a bit hesitant to go full urethane as my main ball 1st out of the bag. I feel like the BTU pearl will be a better 1st ball benchmark. It was close though... if I didnt already have the Rebel Tank sure. To be honest with you I'm going to be trolling Ebay for a deal on a used Tank Rampage & Hy-wire.
I watched a bunch of videos & the BTU & tank rampage seemed so close, edge went to the pearl in case I had to get deep I thought the BTU would be better at that

Since my Rebel is pin down, either one of these in Pin up should be a bit stronger. I definitely want a pin up Tank Rampage too haha

I went with the Pin Down on the Fanatic BTU Pearl, its perfect for straight up the boards. Its a little earlier than the tank & a little stronger. Exactly what I wanted. If you wanted to pin it up so you have a pearl that hooks stronger but doesnt have that huge move off the spot, its great for that too. VERY versatile ball. Love it
I have a stronger pin down Brunswick Loaded Revolver but thats too strong to be a down & in ball & also too weak to really hook the lanes. I may just use my Pin up Radical Ridiculous Pearl at the Ball up from the Fanatic BTU.
Happy with the ball. Wish I could also have one Pin up!

Still hard to recommend the BTU pearl for those who aren't Brunswick fans when you can get a Path Rising for nearly half the price.  Its longer and maybe even slightly weaker imo.   For those with higher revs though the BTU pearl might be a bit tamer on flying back ends.  Still glad you found a ball you match up with.
