Figuring out average after first Game.
« on: November 03, 2008, 01:46:59 AM »
I bowl in a mix league. Was bowling against a team that had one guy with leauge high average (currently). After the first game he bowls 180 something. His average is over 210.

He is on the calculator checking his average or checking what he needs to keep is average. Does this happen alot now a days? If he was on my team I would be telling him about bowling well and winning the next two games instead of looking into his average.

I saw him do this bowling next to us the following week. He had a good first game of 234. Again on the calculator.

I understand after your done bowling (all three games), but after every game is calculating for his average.

Was it a calculator or a PDA type device? I know someone who has bowling software for his PDA and after each game he will put the previous games info into to so he can track his bowling.

Why the heck would you need a calculator to sandbag?  IF you bowl under your average it will come down... pretty simple.

I thought about that too.  I actually have a notebook that I use to track what I do every night(primarily to track the number of missed spares).

A couple of people have actually asked me if I track it to sandbag.  However, when they see my averages in my scratch and handicap league are almost identical, they know that is not the case.

Id agree if he were tracking scores, but we have a few teams on our weds league that actually figure out what to shoot the last game to win series and maintain or lower averages, and yes they are that blatent about it

Maybe hes just really focused on hes avg. A friend of mine is it and hes always keeping track on what he needs to shoot next game to maintain hes avg.
