Bowlmor purchased a privately owned house in Manteca, CA a year or so ago. They have poured tons of money into the facility. New lanes and scoring system, replaced all the old furniture, repainted the entire inside and made long needed repairs to the exterior. They are planning to replace the pin setters soon as well.

From what I have seen, Bowlmor isn't adverse to spend money when they feel it will be a decent ROI.

Bowlero (Bowlmor) is performing extensive updates of their Brunswick Zone centers in the Phoenix, Arizona area. AMF Christown, AMF Scottsdale, Brunswick Desert Sky, Brunswick Zone Mesa, Brunswick Zone Kyrene, Brunswick Zone Via Linda, Brunswick Zone Tri-City, and Brunswick Zone Glendale are being converted to Bowlero Christown, Bowlmor Scottsdale, Bowlero Desert Sky, Bowlero Mesa, Bowlero Kyrene, Bowlero Via Linda, Bowlero Avondale and Bowlero Glendale respectively with complete overhauls of the concourse, settee, masking units, interior, arcade, bar, snack bar... everything the bowler sees and experiences. These centers have also purchased new Kegel lane machines in the past year or so, put in new scoring systems and center management systems. They are in the process of replacing everything except for the approaches, lanes and pinsetters.  Bowlero (Bowlmor) has also performed extensive upgrades in their other AMF centers in the Phoenix area. I'm not a fan of everything they do but give credit where credit is due for the extensive overhauls they are performing on a large scale.

Bowlmor has actually started putting more emphasis on leagues in the last year and their big money Elite events are all about promoting that.  Not sure why I am defending a soulless corporation but as mentioned above they put a ton of money here in Phoenix and on the whole they aren't so bad especially since I can get $2 open bowling with my league card at any of their centers.  That is the biggest negative I see is their open bowling is outrageous otherwise (so is alcohol I hear but don't drink much any more).  Days of mom and pop lanes are rapidly passing.  Just like everything else the corps have taken over shrug.  I imagine the pros are more excited to have a chance at seeing six figure checks than worrying about how Bowlmor is going to ruin the tour.

Does Bowlmor ever update their houses?  The one I have to bowl in has serious problems.  For example there are chairs missing or broken, goo or some kind of rubber getting on the bowling balls in the returns (which will not come off with a dry towel), score keepers not working, lanes breaking down and not getting repaired for weeks, leaking ceilings and many other problems.   

My concern is that they will continue to let the place go down and then just close it. 

Anyone else seeing this problem?

Yes, I have seen very similar problems in the Bowlmor in my area. In addition, the ball returns frequently gashed the balls, and the approaches were filthy. Bowlmor evicted the pro shop on the premises in favor of more arcade games and even removed vending machines where you could purchase accessories like tapes---obviously hostile to league bowling.

This is the only experience that I have had in a Bowlmor place. Fortunately, there are other facilities in my county where I am enjoying league bowling.
