If I remember correctly, Shocker was trying to put one together towards the end of the summer.  

Is there going to be a NJ gathering put together by anyone at all?

Look's like the ball's in your court, A_P_K. You'll find this is more difficult than it first appears.

Why not try one for March or April when it starts to get warmer? Before then there's too much of a chance for snow to cancel the outing. Carolier was a big enough place central to many people.

Yeah I can tell that it will be, that's why I went short from volunteering to do it.

There are however a few members I see on a weekly basis anyway, namely you and JS that I practice with, but if people are truly serious about meeting at Carolier, then I'll take the reigns on this one and get something together for the spring.

I've always wanted to get up into that area.  Might be able to fit in a weekend jaunt for Apr 24-25.

You're not missing anything really, , but as long as more people want to get something going and meet, I'll make arrangements to do it then, if people are coming from out of state.

You shouldn't be sorry because not too many people seemed serious about getting together.  If they truly did then someone else would have picked up and assisted you with the arrangements.  

NJ isn't a big state, and Carolier is surrounded by at least three major freeways/highways.

Warrior, I don't blame your folks a bit.  Luckily you have parents that care very much about you.  Thats why I put that restriction in.  Still hope to have the chance to meet up.

Have to see how things shake out, still a little way off.

Read this thread, "I know this is not bowling related but" in this section, Miscellaneous, then ask your parents to read it or print it off for them to read it. Then ask them how "STUPID we are. Yes, my wife is also overly cautious and did not like it when I invited a friend I met on the internet years ago to our home. But I knew the person and have met many other very fine people here and elsewhere on the net.

Of course, one must be very careful to whom you reveal personal information; there are a lot of low-life pond scum around, but common sense and an ounce of caution go a long way.

Show your parents that thread. I'd really like to know what they think.

BTW I live in New Jersey, near Flemington.

Some good points Charlest.

I still can’t blame the parents though.  As a parent, I would have probably offered to take him to the bowling alley myself.  That way I could meet some of the people myself if it was that important to him.

All we hear on the news though is bad news about the predators that visit websites preying on our children.  I still can’t blame the parents for making a snap judgment and saying no.  It just is not worth taking a chance.

For those of us that have been on this site a while, we usually have a good idea about the type of person we are dealing with.  His parents don’t use the site, all of us are complete strangers.  One post won’t change their mind about the caliber of people their son would be associating with.

Like you, I’ve invited ball reviewers into my home and I have also been invited into the homes of various people across the United States.  I’ve met some of the greatest people in the world that way.

On the other hand, if a new poster came on and wanted to visit, I would be awful leery about inviting him until he had been on the site long enough for me to form an opinion.

Don’t mean to ramble but, unlike Rags, I usually have trouble expressing myself.  Hope it makes sense.

On edit, even though we tend to think the worst of people, in this instance, you can't afford to be wrong once.
