Help getting a couple of new balls for my wife
« on: March 11, 2016, 09:57:55 AM »
I want to get two new balls for my wife.  She carries a 150+ average, slow speed and low revs and uses a full finger grip.  She will be bowling in two houses with medium heavy oil and two that are medium to dry.  Would like to stay in the EBI family. At present she's using an old Ebonite Tornado and a Brunswick BVP Nemesis.  In one of the drier houses she's using an old Hammer urethene (red pearl).

Was thinking about the Track Heat and an Ebonite Cyclone.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Cyclone is an excellent ball, IMO the best ball for your money currently on the market.  I haven't sold any of the new Heats yet.  --  JohnP

With her average and slow revs I would think she would be better with lower end equipment that is controllable. Ask your proshop to suggest balls that are low flare with controllable drilling.   The Heat might be too much for her. She needs equipment that will give her length and not take off on the back-end.  The Strike Kings or Loco Pearl come to mind. Get her some lessons too.

Your wife bowls 4 nights a week, I'd buy her 3 balls and a new bag for them. Can't get my wife to bowl once a week, not to her liking .

I just drilled up a Loco Pearl.  I was surprised how much backend this ball has on drier conditions.  The solid may be more suitable for a controlled backend reaction.

I don't have any recommendations on the Ebo family.  If you were interested in AMF/900G, the following two might be good choices:
For Heavier patterns: Black Ops - just a great core/cover combo, rolls really well for just about everyone I've seen throw it.

For the Drier patterns: I like the AMF Xcite series

My gf has a critical theory, and a scream pearl...there isn't a house on the planet she can't play the track area with those two

With a 150 average...let her pick the ball she likes.

+100

IMO all companies make good entry level pieces, lean toward those. Ultimately let the PSO and her decide.
