Why do I always have a bad game?
« on: September 20, 2004, 10:18:57 PM »
Seems like every match I play I have a bad game,
take last night for example, I had a little practice,
we have 4 people (2 doubles teams) on 2 lanes crossover with 5 minutes practice for all, thats just over a minute each per lane.
But hey you get what you can...

My first game was 150, it seamed like I couldn't hit anything,
then got a 212, then a 207 so then made me feel ok, but that 1st game just got me thinking?

What is it that i cant do? it seemed like i can adjust, but only after a couple of open frames make me...

Do you look at every shot with equal analsys, and how do you know when your off, and not just having a bad shot, ie dropping your shoulders a bit to much or something?

I think I look at a lot of shots as me doing something wrong in my approach
and I need to look at my starting/ending position a lot more?

Tell me if I'm rambling on... if it doesnt make any sence just say!

Well I would first try and practice as much as you can, without keeping score, to align your body up and remember how it feels that way you can go out and always have the same feeling and don't have to worry about having a bad shot or if it was something you did before you threw the ball and second guess yourself.  During warm up, I would try and get the most benefit out of it as possible, such as, if you're off by a little, just make the adjustment quicker instead of waiting another frame to see the results and then move.  If you think you need to move, just do it, and go from there.  Go with what you think of 1st, otherwise you'll just start to confuse yourself and throw your mental game off as well. hope that helps.

Yea I agree with bowlerstyle. I know where your coming from, I used to be the same, and still am some nights. Really the thing that seems to be the problem for me is that Im not warmed up. Once Im warmed up its alot easier to repeat shots, and throw a good ball. I usually go to league about a half an hour early and either get a lane, or use one of the lanes open to practice on and get help from some of the coaches. Go half an hour early and throw a game to get yourself warmed up, then hopefully all 3 games will be up there since your warmed up. (Also, I try to find what lane Im on and go to that lane so I know what its like )

Yes, I agree with the warn up and practice, but the leagues starts at 6pm and I rush home from work to get the balls then rush to the league, and its practically 6 by then, so I only get the official warm up practice session which is only 5 minutes and thats 2 people per lane, so you get only 1 min 15 seconds per lane!! I think this is not enough. but they wont change it.

So prior to that I've done all I can, got a drink, stretched my arms and legs, held the ball and swung it a bit.

And during practice I look at how the other peoples balls react on the lane.
