Title: Finding my grip center
Post by: Jay on July 06, 2008, 06:02:24 PM
So I have a dropped ring finger.  For the purposes of using the dual angle layout system, once I find my grip center, which span should I use to measure where my fingers should go?  Or does it not matter?

Also, if the holes are already drilled into the ball, how do I locate my grip center then?  Since my thumb hole is off to the side it won't be in line with my center line.  I'm guessing I find it as normal, as if the thumb hole was in line the the center line, and cut my ring finger span in half to find it.

Just wondering how I'd do this for layout purposes and to trace my grip center back to my PAP.  Thanks for the help.

maybe ask Brunsnick, I dont really understand everything you are saying.

I'm thinking you use a modified Sarge Easter Grip???
I'm confused with what you are saying

No Sarge Easter Grip.  it's just that my hand requires that might span include a shorter ring finger to thumb distance.  It's 1/8 shorter.  So I'm asking, would I use the span of my middle to thumb, or my ring to thumb after I find my grip center(using the Dual Angle system)?

And if the holes are already drilled, I would measure half the distance between my thumb and the fingers.  But I'm guessing I use the ring span since it's shorter.

EDIT: BowlersDate, here's how I thought it would be done.  Draw the center line straight through the bridge.  The thumb will be off to the right.  Imagine a line from the edge of the thumb and a line from the edge of the finger holes both being perpendicular to the center line.  Halfway between is my grip center, and I'm guessing the whole length is my ring span.
