Lefty Challenge
« on: July 19, 2008, 06:17:04 AM »
janderson has challenged me bowl straight up.  We are both bowling left handed.  Yes, I am a lefty so you'd think it would be a no brainer.  On edit, this will take place at The Gathering in NC, so there will be plenty of witnesses,  Who knows some one may video tape it

Anyone want to predict who will win?  Include reasons and point spread if you want. Probably a 3 game set.

My prediction is j by 60 or more

Reasons:
1. I am sure he has been practicing - I haven't
2. He can bowl - I can't (I do look pretty bowling my 120 games )

Can I get in on this?  I can throw the ball decent left handed.  Of course, I pretty much use the PChee spare system (that's the reset button for those who haven't been on the site long enough).

No offense, but I think it was meant to be kept to a one-on-one competition.  Besides I'm not sure about one competitor let alone adding more  If I lost to both of you, Sr Kegler would make me turn in my Lefty Card and I'd have to toss my equipment into a river somewhere for being such a disgrace to lefties everywhere.  BUT It would make my trip home much lighter

I think he just want to prove to me it really is easier on the left side

HEY....I use that Pchee spare system most of the time.....Unless there is cash on the line then I love to break out that spare ball for a few weeks prior.

Otherwise it sits much like the Maytag Man!

Man, I have not heard about Pchee for a long, long time. What ever happened to him/her/it?

It can be one-on-one and group too.  The more the merrier

For the odds makers in Vegas:

I have not been practicing.
I use Dexters so I can't slide with my right foot.
I have all oval thumb holes, so my equipment doesn't fit my left hand very well.
I have bowled partial seasons left-handed as I've broken my right hand four times in the past.
I'm not ambidextrous.

It's easier on the left side? Are you crazy? You know I don't get into the lefty-righty fights.  I just thought it might be a fun thing to do and wanted to give you some motivation to get that knee healed up!

LOL remember - I've seen you bowl.

I hadn't thought about the shoes, that is definitely a disadvantage, but Pchee style it doesn't matter

I'm hoping is good to go.  I guarantee if I bowl bad it will be the knee's fault j/k

Okay, it was only 1 game and it was very close.  I was tired and quiet so J thought I was too serious, so he held back and let me win by a whopping 3 pins 164 - 167.  Thanks J for the ego boost

It was a good battle where I shot out in front courtesy of a couple of lucky breaks on crossover strikes. TP battled her already tired knee (we had already bowled about 8 games by that point) to put shots in the pocket to cool down my lucky hot streak.

It came down to the wire. The crowd grew silent as I took the approach for my first shot in the 10th.  Building on a pocket strike in the 9th frame, I had the opportunity to shut my opponent out.  Shuffling to plant at the line, the onlookers groaned as I went through the beak, leaving the 2-7. Laughter then erupted as my conversion attempt found the left channel at the arrows.

Even so, the ThongPrincess (tm) needed to fill the 10th frame with good count to take me down. You could cut the tension in the air with a 19 inch titanium chainsaw as TP took the lane. She took a couple of extra seconds and delivered a blistering stroke that found the high pocket area, leaving her (if I remember correctly - I couldn't bear to watch as tears of frustration stung my eyes) a 6-10.  Calmly, almost as if to say "take this, you overrated buffoon" she threw a dead-eyed pea and ran down the spare.

The crowd went wild.

Next came the fill ball.  TP needed 7 pins to tie, 8 or more pins to join the annals of glory and the elite (hahaha) group of bowlers to defeat me in head to head scratch competition. With nerves of granite and the determination of a stalking cougar, she took to the approach and lined up her shot. The delivery and execution were smooth and unhurried, the ball arcing a smooth line to the hole .... X X X X X X X

Oh the agony of defeat!

or something like that

Yes, they were all very tongue in cheek.
