According to this article yes:

Bowling Techniques – The Perfect Strike

Certain bowling techniques will almost always result in a strike, because certain things happen during every strike. In fact, the same 4 bowling pins are hit during a strike. The pins differ for right-handed bowlers and left-handed bowlers:
 Right-handed strikes hit only the 1, 3, 5 and 9 pins.
 Left-handed strikes hit only the 1, 2, 5 and 8 pins.

Many people here have said that the "modern" strike has the ball going precisely  between the 8 pin and the 9 pin and taking out both of them.

While that can happen, I personally don't feel that the current best strike scenario.

This is something I have been trying to watch close rand adjust off from...  for me, when I see the ball leaving the deck near the eight pin (rt handed), it's a clear sign that I'm about two frames behind in making an adjustment and/or ball change 😭

That's exactly why high rev players should try a lighter ball. If the ball does not deflect, you will leave a lot of ten pins.  Also the perfect strike ball is rolling aggressively forward with a slight axis tilt to the left when it hits the pocket, not side-ways. Big snapping hooks are impressive, but the best ball for carrying power is ROLLING!

A "perfect" strike in today's game is splitting the 8 and 9.

Been meaning to start a thread for something that happened.  But it seems, this thread is a good place for my query.

Had a 6 pin leave, pocket hit.  Usually, this would mean a hi hit (right handed).  But I saw the ball deflect the 3 pin into the 6 pin into the 10 pin.  so 6 pin carries the 10, but remains standing. Actually finishes in about the original place.  Wouldn't have thought much of it, but it happened twice in the same game.  Same lane.   Could it have been an oily or a less than clean pindeck?

The only other un-ordinary carry I had that night was a solid 9 the first game.

Any thoughts?

Very flat bottomed, new pin or oil on the pin deck and some very bad luck  - all conspired to leave the 6 pin after it was hit and it, in turn, hit another pin. I wouldn't give it another thought. It's not likely to happen every often, if ever again.

Are you stating the 6 pin hit the 10 pin and then the 6 pin moved back and remained standing in it's original spot?

TWICE!!  We were all laughing about it.  It ended up around its original place.  In the center I played in, the machine would get stuck if a pin would slide to an in between spot (from the original set-up spots).  So I guess it was just some strange cosmic joke...
