Finger inserts question
« on: December 21, 2009, 05:00:17 AM »
I am using vise power lifts right now. I am wanting to know what everyone thinks about them compared to the vise oval inserts. Whats the different in feel, and how it effects the release? And which one do you prefer?

The lifts add forward pitch to your fingers. Your ball driller might have compensated for the added pitch by reversing the same amount. With that being said, putting in ovals possibly will make your span feel very relaxed almost shorter.

If you find you prefer the feel of the ovals, your shop can "line" the fingers and redrill the grip hole with the changed pitch settings.

For me, I find it the most comfortable having an oval for my middle finger and a lift for my ring finger, but that's just my preference.  I've also noticed that the side of my finger doesn't get torn up nearly as much with the oval on my middle finger than when I had the lifts.  It's worth trying out, you might like it.  I didn't really notice any difference in my release.

For me, the ovals feel much more natural and I still get plenty of lift.  The power lifts I tried a few times, and for me they just plain made my fingers sore with no noticeable difference in performance. Ovals for me!

As mentioned above the drill angles are adjusted for the pitch that us added by the lifts. Tou might also want to consider the Vise Power Oval as it has the ovaled fron edge of an oval ngrip but with the pitched "lift" added. Or the Turbo I believe it's the "classic quad"

The power lift side of Turbo Classics is 1/4" pitch.

The power lift side of Turbo Quads is 1/8" pitch.

The powerlift side of both Vise power lifts and Vise power ovals is 1/4" pitch with the power ovals being way-way more comfortable than the Vise power lifts.

Ditto on the difference between the Turbo Quads and Turbo Classic, with the Quads designed like a Vise power oval and really comfortable but with 1/8" less pitch.

Of coarse there is no pitch in the straight oval side of both brands of grips.

When comparing finger sizes between the 2 brands on the oval side they are realitive close, but on the power lift side I have found the Vise to be 1/2 size larger than the Turbo. In other words, on The Turbo power side for my MF, I need a 13/16 grip and on the power side of a Vise I need a 51/64.
