Old Green Messenger
« on: June 18, 2010, 03:15:35 AM »
So I go over to my mom's yesterday and there's two balls sitting in a milk crate by the side door. Immediatally I recognize one's my old green messenger and the other is a yellow dot. My initial thoughts were my exgirlfriend must have cleaned her bassement out lol because that's the last place I seen these balls. The yellow dot my mom gave to her and is only 13lbs. The messenger looks like the grips are worn out and old and the ball could use a good resurfacing. My question is is it even worth throwing new grips in this ball and getting the thumb reslugged(to fit my grip now as it has changed a lil) and resurface this ball and use it? It was a great ball for me and I shot my first 300 with it. Maybe I could polish it up and use it as a spare ball? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sure, why not???  A green Messenger will still roll as clean as mine did when I had it years ago.  On another note, I was at my mom's today, and was hoping she still had my old C/Beast.  I found it, but it certainly wasn't usable.  It was laying in the backyard woods next to their shed.  Needless to say, it was pretty messed up after several years of Ohio winters.

I still use mine every now and then. That ball has awsome movement leaving the pattern. I still love that ball.

in genaral how much stronger/weaker is thatn say the freeze..

from what i remenber the oob of the green mess was 600 but how would it measure up whith the now?

I  have 1 in the closet and in the past didn''t have the oil for it (haven''t thrown it other than messing around open bowling)

if it falls inbetween a vg & ve then i might toss it in the bag and pull the vg....but if under the ve it will have to stay out...till a tourny or something.

The solid green one was a good ball....the orange pearl on the other hand was garbage.

For me the Messenger has a stronger backend then the Freeze. Actually I think the Messenger is stronger overall than the Freeze as well.

Bowled my first 300 with this Messenger! Love this ball.

It is still in my rotation. This past winter season I shot a 278 in the last game of a three game set. Pulled it out because I was getting severe over/under from all my other pieces.

Put some new grips in and let'er rip!

Not to mention that there are Blue ones that pop up on EBay new in box from time to time.  Wish I still had my Green one.

I wish I had mine as well Twohands. Sold it to Nicanor several years ago. I picked the green Messenger and original Chaos up at a Columbia pro shop demonstration. Just sold the Chaos about a month ago.
