Hammer Jacked vs Storm 2Fast
« on: November 23, 2010, 02:01:13 PM »
Random question from you crazy kids...I have a Jacked and 2Fast.  I have them drilled very similarly, and both at similar surfaces (4000 abralon with a slight shine with Ebonite Factory Finish polish).

Now, I was expecting the Jacked to be able to handle more oil.  But the results I'm seeing is that my 2Fast is handling more oil.  Not by much, but when the lanes are a bit too tight for the Jacked, the 2Fast is a great ball to go to.  Does this seem consistent with others' observations?

If that's the case, then the R2S is a stronger coverstock than I expected.

The 2Fast may have some more back end with both shiny like that.

Why shine the Jacked?  They come out of the box dull.  Similar layout, similar surface prep, they should be similar.  Put the Jacked at 1000 Abralon no polish, and it will roll earlier and be smoother off the spot.  BTW, I think the 2Fast is much more ball than advertised.  Great ball, hits awesome.

I usually bring the surfaces up on my gear because most of what I see for tournaments and league needs less ball.  So I like to get modern gear, put layouts I like on these balls, but tame the reaction down with surface adjustments.

The Jacked is the stronger cover. But the Fast will respond quicker and more in the back of the lane. Even polished, the Jacked will want to be smoother giving the appearance of weaker
