I finally built myself a bowling ball rack!
« on: May 26, 2013, 09:51:32 AM »
All it took was $25-30 in lumber. I used 9 2x4's. the vertical supports are 42" apiece, and the support beams are 44". The shelf supports are 10" long, and that's how wide the base is. A pic can be found in my photobucket account, which can be seen through this link:

Congrats! Clearly you are on your way to joining us other ball crazies! I have built three of those btw, each holding 20 balls.

I have a ball problem. LOL!

Oh, I've had well over 30 balls in my possession at one time before. In total, I've probably owned a couple hundred balls or more. These days I'm trying to keep it at least somewhat reasonable. Now I need to buy or craft my own spinner!

Looks great....a ball spinner is one of the best investments a bowler can make....right after coaching...IMHO. For the cost of 1 or 2 new balls you can have a nice spinner and some great starting supplies.

Nice Bowling ball rack, I might try to make one over the summer. I don't know how well it will come out lol probably waste $30 on lumber and it falls apart. Wish me luck lol

I don't consider myself to be all that handy with these types of things, Icon, and I was able to make it work. Just take your time, be patient, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

They are fairly easy, and inexpensive. I had a 12 ball one in my old house, and it was totally enclosed, kept the dust off...LOL But now with the disability, I am down to 5 balls, and really only use 2.
Three in a triple roller and two in a double bag, next to my spinner cabinet.
Have fun making it and enjoy it.
Gene, again, invest in a spinner....well worth it....just ask charlest!

Nice job.

Once you build a rack your floor some how gets more bowling balls around the rack.

Very similar to the plans I have for one. I'm using 2X6s as ends so it has better balance, 2X2s for the rails, and probably 1X6s for feet. All I know is that it'll get my bowling balls off the floor of our utility closet and my wife will be happy!

Now if my 2-year-old will leave me alone long enough to build this. . .
