First 800
« on: September 20, 2009, 06:05:22 AM »
Finally, after 28 years of bowling, I got my first 800 last Thursday. I finally feel like the monkey is off my back.  Already have 7 300 games, 2-299's and 2-298's.  Anyone else feel the same way after their first one?

I was just shocked when I realized with 4 frames left I still had a chance to do it.  Needed 3 strikes and a 7 fill.  Tossed the last 4 strikes (actually ran the last 10 strikes) for 803.

Never really felt I was good enough to go that distance as my high game is still 287 and that was not included in the 800 series

278-257-268=803

Congrats on the 800, it truly is a very difficult thing to do.

I was shocked when I got my first one.  I was in a slump and having some timing issues.  Had just worked with someone the week before trying to get re-aligned and something just clicked.  That and I ended up needing the front ten the last game.  It's great feeling...just remember it and the fact that you can do it!!

Congrats on the set...800's just aren't easy, I don't care what shot you bowl on.

Congrats! Completely felt that way after my first one! Didn't have mine until 2005 after too many years of bowling.  Shot 227, 290, 300 in my final tournament in the military.<p>
Just shot my 2nd one tonight! Shot 267, 268 and 288 for my personal best 823!

That is awesome. Congrats.

Felt the same with mine last year. Me and my older brother started bowling about the same time and he has 3-4 300s, and shot 825 two years ago. He has always bowled two nights a week and sometimes three.

Due to work I've only been able to bowl one night a week and the few times I'm able to catch tournaments and sub some I notice a huge difference in my average and consistancy. I finally shot my first 300,800 last year and felt a lot better knowing I was capable. I just don't get to bowl as much as I should to get those chances. My previous highs were 299(nine pin) and 795.
