turtle wax

is turtle wax safe to use on polishing a bowling ball? i bought some for cleaning my bowling balls for my sat nite league. i ending up getting a 186, 171, and 203. maybe the polish has something to do with it or it is just me

 You DO NOT want to use that on a reactive ball. Plastic? Ok.  Not on the others though.

What made you think that wax would clean anything? I don't understand.
 
Wax will not "CLEAN" anything.
Wax will clog the pores of a resin ball and reduce the amount of hook by a lot, sometimes to almost nothing.
Auto wax and auto ANYTHING should be used on automobiles and not bowling balls. end of story.

Basically the best thing to do is take the ball to a reputable pro shop, do a proper oil extraction in the rejuvenator oven (pro shop will know what you mean, if they don't then find another) and a proper resurface with polish (BOWLING BALL SPECIFIC POLISH as you want a shine).

 

If you do this it will highly likely that will be what you are looking for.  Do you have details on the ball, layout, your style..........?

Turle Wax will only make your ball go longer and best used on dry lanes....

 

Been there done that wrote the book...

 

There are allot of other tricks to make your ball go longer...

I'm pretty sure those are/were all designed for auto body repair work.
 
 
 
Now, as far as cleaners, I'm with you on not understanding why somebody would use "wax" to clean anything.

If using wax does screw it up, or you feel it screws it up, just sand it with a lower grit paper and hit it with acetone. hey its illegal, but if ur silly to put car wax on the ball gotta bend the rules to fix your mistakes.

IMHO there are significantly better AND cheaper polishes than Finesse-It.
 
Abralon and Siaair were designed  as abrasives. As such, they can be used on anything hard enough to to provide a good base for the final result. The problem with many auto "liquids", for want of a better generic term, is you don't know what is actually in them that might be harmful to a bowling ball.
