First Night in Sport League
« on: September 14, 2004, 04:31:28 AM »
Well, I finally did it.  I joined a sport condition league.  Last night the the first day of league, and I managed to shoot 189 (1 open 3 strikes),162 (4 opens, all wash outs on the left lane, Turkey in 9th-11th), and a clean 197 (4 strikes. Almost a dutch).  I don't think I've ever felt more satisfied with a 548 series.

My first observation was I no longer have area (ok I had 2 boards instead of 5+).  The second thing I noticed was that I have to work on speed control.  The third and probably most important was spares are golden because strikes are almost non-existent.

In the second game, when the lanes transitioned, I found I could not make the normal move.  I was lost until the 8th frame.  That will probably be my key this year.  Learning to adjust as the lanes change.

Deester69, you're observations are dead on with what I found in my summer league.  Speed control and transitions were the two major things.  A lot of the latter will have to do with how others are playing the lanes (as usual), but the old 2 and 1 move is a thing of the past on this sort of shot.
