First time on a PBA condition
« on: October 26, 2009, 02:57:45 PM »
Bowled on a PBA condition for the first time on Sunday, it was Chameleon. I''''m a stroker with around 250-275 RPM, 15 MPH ball speed, and good axis rotation. My best look was with a 1000 grit Resurgence drilled 4 3/4" from my PAP, pin over fingers. Played up the 7th board most of the day. Here were my scores for 5 games of qualifying:

212-213-150-175-208

For qualifying, I finished 3rd out of 25 bowlers. In match play I went:

148-135-198-131-185

Found that adjusting to breakdown was the hardest part. Found out quick how important it is to go straight at the spares, especially on the left side. I think I had five 8 count chops in that 131 game. However, I really enjoyed on bowling on something more difficult. Little too far out, washout. Little too far in, split, or if I was lucky, a brooklyn. I liked that the shot showed what you did wrong. Can''''t wait to join a PBAX league when I turn adult for the summer season.

I bowled a PBAX league this past summer, and while I hated every minute of being there, it helped me in too many ways to mention. It seems things you thought you knew, really weren''t true. IE: Get the ball a little too far? It''s come flying back, through the nose right? Wrong! You''re lucky to get three off the right. Same with tugging the ball a bit. It''s gonna go light, maybe a ten pin, or worse yet a washout or 2-8-10 right? Wrong! Through the beak.

I couldn''t wait for the season to end. Now I can''t wait for it to return. On a side note, this was a 2 ball challenge league, where we had the misfortune of getting stuck with a Twisted Fury Solid and Smash Zone. The center is the old Brunswick Anvilane, which seemed to be harder than granite. We "voted" on Chameleon and Viper. I voted for Shark and Scorpion. Might as well make it hard right? Out of 72 bowled I finished a little above 30th. Not bad as this was my first sport shot league.
