new bowling center
« on: June 28, 2008, 08:43:38 AM »
it seems like everyday we hear that more and more bowling centers across the country are closing down----and that's not a good thing. however, i'm happy to report that a bowling center in my association is reopening august 1. i live in cameron, missouri, which is appx. 30 miles east of st. joseph, the association i bowl leagues in. we already have 4 houses in this association that do steady business. originally, this center was opened in 1979 and was known as king hill plaza lanes. it was located on the south side of st. joseph and my brother-in-law's uncles construction company built the building. it closed down in 1997. in appx. 2000 it reopened under the name of southside lanes and was open for several years until the new owners gave up on it. poor management was the reason it fell apart. now, there are new owners who seem committed to owning and running a family style fun center with the emphasis on family-----no smoking on saturdays till after 5PM and no smoking or alcohol on sundays. the new incarnation of this center is called southside family fun center. it has 24 wood lanes recently resurfaced, new remanufactured pinsetters and automatic scoring, and an updated game area, lounge, and grill. our saturday night mixed league team is moving here and we are loking forward to something new.

Excellent. These are the stories we need to hear. I'd like to hear from other people in the United States if they know of a new or newer center that has opened and the location.

There is rumored to be a new big center opening somewhere in Arlington TX, the future site of USBC but don't know any details. It would be nice to have a new wood lane alley house.
