Fit Issue - Ever Seen This Before?

I have developed an issue over the past couple of years, and after going through several changes in span and pitches, I've seen no improvement.  Im at the point now, that by game 3 of a typical league night, its sore. 

By the looks of my thumb, I would say kung-fu death grip.  However, I have been concentrating on not squeezing and having a "soft" release...  Perhaps I'm doing it and not even realizing it?

The symptoms are a a very sore thumb nail, about 2/3 of the way towards the end of the nail...Dark underneath.  I have a matching dark mark at the same position on the pad side of my thumb.

I don't have any crazy pitches or anything...  Span is 4 5/16" thumb pitches are 1/8" left and 1/18" reverse.

Anyone ever see this before or have any suggestions?

I have the same thing in my thumb but my nail is just fine, I dont feel any pain at all and in my case Im not grabbing the ball by any means and I use oval thumb hole, my thumb hole is pretty stretch since I dont want to bend my thumb pretty much at all, what Ive noticed is that when it comes out, check the borders of the hole, there might be some friction causing the soreness.

If it doesnt hurt, you are fine

When it comes to sore or injured fingers, thumbs, hands in bowling, realize that if you look at a PBA bowler's hands, you will find more of the same or worse.  What does this mean?  It means that even the world's greatest bowlers who should by now have a drill and fitting that is optimum still wind up wrecking their hands bowling. 

I've been in tournaments where my fingers were literally bleeding all over my balls and it was a mess.  But what can you do?  It isn't natural to be swinging balls all day.  One big reason why people wind up with knee injuries, hip problems, and back issues from years of bowling.

It really depends on your release.  Mark Roths thumb was hamburger all the time during his prime.  I use to have a bad crack at the base of my thumb all the time and it would break open after just a few games.  Shortened my span by less than 1/4 inch, and it went away.  Changed my pitches a few years back to help me stop hitting up on the ball at release, and now I hardly even have calluses despite having a higher rev rate than with my old release.
