Well my first question would be, does the ball flare away from the fingers/thumb, or towards it? If the ball flares away, is it possible for a high rev player, with a high flare ball, to have it flare so much it actually starts to spin? When I say spin, I mean go from forward roll, to flaring down so much its like a spinner track. I dont know, I think of this stuff as Im falling asleep lol.

With the pin in a positive quadrant (above the grip mid line) the flare below the bowtie will be away from the grip and above the bowtie towards the grip.
So on a normal pin drilling the track flares away from the thumb and towards the finger holes.
The core will reach a stable axis and will quit flaring so the ball going into a spin is not possible.
