No More Bowling Digest?!?!?
« on: December 29, 2004, 04:58:50 AM »
I received a copy Travel America in the mail yesterday, a magazine I've never heard of, let alone subscribed to.  I open it up to find a flyer stating that I would no longer be receiving Bowling Digest due to "Economic Reasons..." but that the distributor was going to substitute this travel magazine in it's place.  I don't want a travel magazine.

Does anyone know what's going on?

And they didn't supply  a phone number so I could cancel and get my money back.  Does anyone have one?  I just renewed about 2 months ago through 2007.

And please don't post saying that BTM or BJI or whatever magazine is better anyways, I'm just concerned with getting my money back from the bowling magazine I subscribed for.

News to me, I am a subscriber too. This is the first I have heard of it. Anyone else know anything about this?

Yeah, I've been to that site, all they list is a fax number.  Hell, I'm in Chicago, I could always drive up to Evanston kick some doors down.

got my travel america a few days ago.  already sent off a letter demanding a refund for my remaining time.  I was going to switch to BTM when the subscription ran out anyway, cause i didn't appreciate them arbitrarily going from monthly to bi-monthly and not refunding half my money then.

When they went from monthly to bi-monthly, didnt they just extend the subscription (doubled the time left) so you would get the same amount of issues?

Actually, this past year they went from bi monthly to 4 magazines a year.  And although my subscription runs through 07, one of the magazine distributors recently tried to send me a subscription renewal invoice indicating my subscription would run out in 1/05.  I too have no intention of receiving TravelAmerica magazine for the balance of my subscription.  Sounds like the circulation manager is about to get a lot of nasty mail and/or phone calls.

I did find the web site for Century Publishing, www.centurysports.net  I have sent an email to customer service requesting a refund and expressing the unacceptable substitution of another magazine.  From some other research, it appears that they recently may have also discontinued publishing hockey digest and basketball digest, however I have not confirmed that with anyone who has been a subscriber.  I will update if I receive a response from customer service.
