On a league shot, do you prefer a Solid, Hybrid or a pearl and why? Also, do you like pin up or down?
-
It all depends on the nature of the "house shot". Some house shots have the Great Wall of China!! If that is the case, a solid or hybrid is fine for me till the third game,....then I go pearl.
If its a house shot with flying back ends then I'm usually going pearl with a lot of speed, but I can go pin down hybrid as well. The fronts will dictate, which though.
If its a medium house shot with medium oil, and average backends, I'll probably go with a solid all three games, and whether to go pin down or pin up will be dictated by the natural transition of the lanes.
-
I usually go with a pin down Solid or Hybrid to start out as the house I'm at likes using the Great Wall most nights. Once the pattern opens up a bit around the 2nd or 3rd game, I finish with a pin up pearl. If the back is flying, it's usually a pearl all 3 games.
I definitely like pin down starting out as it rolls earlier and gives me a smoother reaction overall. Once it opens, I really like going pin up to give additional length and make the bigger move in back.

I was going to respond to this topic and write almost the exact same thing. You saved me the trouble.

+1
So far my pin down haywire is doing the job perfectly for longer patterns, if its medium lengh patterns I would go to my hybrid balls

Surface. Usually 500/1000, 500/2000, or just 1000, 2000, or sometimes 4000 depending on the ball not the sales terminology. Doesn't really matter, get the surface right and you're fine. I will say, most guys use too much shine or too much surface and wonder why they go face, 2-8-10 repeatedly.
-
Pin over ring...anything that gets down lane. Either a strong pearl or a mild solid

This is normally what works well for me too

Ditto. They all seem to work when I do my part...

It is really all about carry, since you should be able to hit the pocket all day with anything in your back. As a low rev stroker the best ball will often change from night to night on the same shot depending on a lot of factors including how the other guys are playing them. My best ball on a house however is often my Black Widow Legend with pin on the grip line below the fingers.
