For my girlfriend..
« on: March 17, 2005, 01:38:47 AM »
She just started not long ago, and she had much interest in bowling. So, I'm wondering which ball to get for her,

Polyester?
Power Groove
Scout Reactive
Tornado

Which of these would be a betta ball for her, she doesn't know how to rev nor ball speed. But might just get her more on these once she's gotten her ball.

I bought my wife a Storm Bubble Gum Flame about a year and half ago for her first ball.  She went fingertip and after a span change was feeling comfortable in the ball.  We basically worked on accuracy and now that she is doing better with that, I bought her a Morich Onslaught so she can learn to hook the ball now.  Her release is still suspect and she can't stay behind the ball, but if a suitcase release works for her, then so be it.

I would not go with polyester just because the fact that it isn't going to hook at all and she may become discouraged.  I think any of the other 3 would work fine, just company preference on your part.  Congrats on getting another one hooked on this great game.

Cool, just like what I've thought. But saying about hooking the ball, she doesn't really have much speed even that the house ball hooks.

Er, so I'm like doubting that reactive balls might just hook too much for her, but like you've said, once she grab hold of her speed and revs it might be a good ball  for her.

First off, I'm a Storm lover...so I'd start her on a Hit or Big Hit. The Grooves are sometimes a bit much for a first time ball. White Dots are always good to start someone off with, Tornados are OK, but here again, I'm leaning to Strom.

my 2 cents are up

Hmm.. but Storm Hits are rare over here. I guess I might just let her chooose and maybe the drilling to do the job.

If it was me,...I'd take her directly to a good pro shop,.do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Let 'them' watch her bowl, and recommend some options. A good pro shop will take care of her, and get's you off the hook. I'd also throw in some lessons with her new ball. je
