What kind of deals do manufacturer sponsored pro shops get?

I have been to several pro shops that put up banners saying they are an official (this or that company) pro shop. Lately there have been a lot of Storm and Ebonite shops. There are others to.

What kind of deals are these shops getting in return for pushing a particular manufacturer's products?

What effect does this have on getting the right ball into a customer's hands?

It is not much, unless you have a high volume sales or multiple shops.  

It has no effect on getting the right ball into the customer's hands.  

But the manufacterer's trade materials are nice to have as kind of "splash" for recent releases and such.  

As a single smaller shop, with over 50 balls on my display wall for inventory, its not worth it to me to buy into these packages. I just don't get that much of a deal for the payout.

I haven't been envolved in the business for 5 about years.

Back then we signed up with a manufacture. It cost the shop $400 a year. For that we got some banners, extra promotional materials, two shirts, and one free seed ball for each release of mid to upper range ball they came out with during the year.

We would bet 6 to 8 seed balls in a normal year.

We would generally just sell the seed balls and would come out slightly ahead on the deal. If a shop drilled them for themselves the deal was break even at best.

Mostly we got the package for the shirts and the banners.  The advertising was the big thing.  The ball manufacturer added the shops that participated in the program to their authorized dealer listing on their websites and literature.  There was a little savings on equipment but nothing earth shattering.  Actually it has very little to do with what prices you get.  You still have to deal mainly with your distributor such as Classic, Premier, Lomar, or Grand Prix.  Pro Shops that fly the banners can not buy directly from the manufacturer and now almost everything in programs goes through the distributors anyway.  All of Ebonites ball packages are one time use.
