Found out something new about my foot work.....
« on: February 06, 2014, 02:27:09 PM »
I've always been 1 to 1 in my approach, but recenly found out that I dift a board in/right. I'm a righty.

I took off for the 2013-2014 season to be with the family and our newborn. But, I do take time to practice when I can and this is when I realized I developed a drift. The only thing physically that has changed in me is that I've gained "baby fat" lol. 13 lbs. to be exact.

Should I try to work on getting my straight 1 to 1 walk back? Or work on this new drift. The positive thing about this new drift is that, it doesn't change at the line. with or without the ball, I drift exactly one board in/right.

I wouldn't say it needs adjusted . . if it's a problem then yeah, but otherwise I'd just go with it.  I actually adjust my drift depending on what angle I'm trying to get on the lane.  Doesn't make much sense I'm sure, but I make zone moves with my feet, and adjust my drift according to what I'm seeing and what I'm wanting to do.  I already drift left to open my shoulders up, but being that I adjust my drift, board moves with my feet don't make much sense or really have much effect.  I'm a feel bowler too, so trying to look at specific boards or marks just messes with my focus, so I may not be much help here . .
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I am also a feel bowler.  I'm guessing I subconciously drift according to what I'm trying to do.  I actually DO make 1-2 board moves, but a one board move to the right basically just tells me to square up.  Opposite for 1 board moves to the left.

Obviously, the 1 board moves are only for minor adjustments and I do move my feet all over, depending on the shot.

I'm guessing now that the ball is now closer to my ankle?..

I spot bowl and I doubt this change will make a huge difference on THS now that you guys mentioned it. I'd be adjusting....thanks

If it is a consistent amount I would not worry about it. The key is to drift the same amount each time.

I do believe with today's strong balls it is an advantage to drift in (to the left for a right hander). This lets you get deeper on the lane without the ball return becoming an issue.

I don't drift but stay square to my intended target line. So as I get deeper I have to start further and further left on the approach. To get in much deeper than 17 at the arrows I run out of room on the right hand lane.

I wish I could open my shoulders and drift left better when I need to get deeper.
