Do you consider....
« on: May 22, 2005, 09:39:00 AM »
A clear, or level plug, as a plug job? I've gotten a few "no plug" balls on ebay to find when removing inserts, or swiching the thumb slug old level filled plug jobs. I'm changing my game, and had to level fill all my equipment to change pitches, I was just wondering what if i should say they had been pluged when i get rid of them.

I would. Because you might be selling to a professional (pba member, right now), and the national players aren't allowed plug. It would be very nasty to make it through qualifying, and get dq'd because of plug I didn't know about, and couldn't see.

IMO, no matter who you sell to...if it's plugged...it's plugged. To me that's the truth..plain and simple. You wouldn't like if if ( or when) you were lied to. To me not to tell someone it's been plugged when it has been, is a lie. Just like selling an X-out and not calling it an X-out.

That's just the way I see it. I'm not saying you did or do that, you asked...I answered.

I always say whether a ball has been plugged or not, even if it is re-drilled in the same spot.

Just in case someone gets it, they will know that it was plugged at one time, even if it ALL drilled out.

I have to sleep at night, so I be as honest as I can about it. I've also received some "no plugs" balls that have been plugged for pitch changes. Doesn't affect me cause leagues are all I bowl in, but it could be different.

If a ball had a hole filled it's plugged. Pretty simple.

what i thought, and what I in fact do, tell people. I'm assuming people that say "no plugs" when somthing had been level filled think since there wasn't a dam, and the ball didn't need to be cut down, it wasn't "plugged" Thanks for the input.

Is it just regional players who are allowed clear plugs now?
and players onthe national tour are not allowed any plugs?

charlest,

Without getting the rule book out, national events are still limited to clear plugs only.  For regionals, as long as it passed the weight and hardness tests, plugged (clear or solid plugs) are legal.
