Consistency Conschmistency
« on: March 14, 2004, 07:49:05 AM »
I bowled 4 games of practice (last games with my Gyro pro as the first ball out of my bag) today, and i was all over the place.  My average is around 140..

Here's what i bowled, in order.

170
117
190
114

I don't understand (well, i understand the last game, there was a bday party a few lanes down and they had noisemakers, and that distracted me)

but i'm really worried about consistency...  any tips?

I guess the questions I would ask myself is:

1) Do I have a pre shot routine that I am happy with? This is something that you have to decide upon and do the same at every time. Such things as rosin, blowing air into thumb hole, breathing, wiping oil off with your towel, and so forth.

2) Do I know how to approach spares properly? I am guessing with the lower scores in game 2 and 4 you may have trouble with corner pins, multiple pin leaves (buckets) and splits. Have someone watch you and see if you can learn how to attack spares with proper foot adjustments on the lane as well as throwing straight at these spares.

3) Does my equipment fit me? Sometimes having issues with a consistent clean release can cause scoring inconsistency.

I'm sure there is more...but this can be a start.
