Now that I got your attention...
With so many bowling balls given away to PBA members and Amateur reps, how does that increase the price we pay? Are you fed up with the bowling ball company profit margins?

EXACTLY MY POINT! My local Roto Grip amateur rep walked in this week with 8 bowling balls he got free! The rest of us have to pay $200 for them! The ball companies pass the costs on to us recreational and average bowlers. Go to Jeff Carter's site and look at his 45 ball arsenal. Does not pay a dime for any of them. He has a 45 ball arsenal and one National Title. I watched Rudy Revs walk into a house with 32 bowling balls once. Did not pay a dime for them. That is why they have a $309 msrp.

I get what you're saying, but damn if I ever pay 200$ for a ball.

You may be the better bowler, but my car would blow the doors off of yours.

My limit when I have the funds now is $150 max. I never buy a high end ball anymore, especially with a house shot. Even on the Kegel Sport and Challenge Patterns this summer, the PBA guys are throwing mid price stuff...they did not pay for!

So you want to 'spread the wealth' as far as balls. Take from those who have and give to those who don't ? if I understand your post.

It's just a marketing expense for the company. If they don't give representatives balls to throw, they'll just spend that same amount of money on other forms of advertising that are probably less effective and will give them less return on investment, which will result in less profit for the company, which means they'll probably have to try charging even more for their bowling balls to make up the difference. How's that sound?
-
If the bowling ball companies did not give away a single ball, sold those balls, and then used the profits they got from those balls to reduce the prices of balls they sold to consumers, I'm guessing that cosumers would pay about $.10 (that's ten cents) less per ball...at the most.
Seems kinda stupid to be griping about a dime. All companies need to market their new products, and giving those products away to high profile people will always be a good marketing tool.

Yes, isn't it awful that those evil, mean-spirited bowling ball manufacturers have the audacity to make a profit and provide for their and their employees' families? I think the Obama administration should take them over and redistribute their wealth to every bowler in the country. Whether you average 90 or 240, you should get free gear.
There, is that the reply you were hoping for?
-
Umm, aren't you out of work? I would think FOOD would be more of a priority than a new bowling ball.

Me stupid. Me believe anything. Please tell me what to do.

This is the same guy that while whining about the bowling ball companies' minimal profit margin, he brags to all his buddies about that new $500 driver he just bought. The golf company probably made 200% margin on that Chinese made club.
Guys like this make me want to use this site less....

First of all with the internet and other deals who is still paying 200+ for a bowling ball. 2nd i agree with everyone on the benefit of marketing. Its cheap marketing. They give out some balls and this allows most of us to see the ball in action. what is more helpful, just reading the specs online and what it "can" and "should" do, or watching the ball roll down the lane. I would be more inclined to buy a ball after i have seen it in action that in a commercial or reading about it.
