Too much thumb and not enough fingers...Suggestions?
« on: March 02, 2004, 09:54:08 PM »
I have a huge problem with thumbing the ball.  I look at my track and it looks like I am a high tracker, but sometimes it'll thump over the thumb and away from the fingers.  I want to get out of this habit as I feel it breeds a lot of my inconsistancy (other than the normal inconsitancies in foot speed).

What can I do to use my fingers more and my thumb less in the ball.  Should I go super reverse in my thumb and force my fingers to do all the work?  Should I have a fairly loose thumb hole so I am forced to use my fingers?  Should I go forward in my fingers to keep them in the ball longer?  Any suggestions are helpful.  Thanks

Try Ron C's Magic Carpet in your thumb hole, it has helped my release tremendously...league average was 164 but over the last three weeks using the Magic Carpet I've averaged 187/game (9 games).

VT...Rons magic carpet yeilded me terrible results.  I hated the feel and didn't get out of the ball any quicker in the thumb

bones, I have played with my pitches 2 or 3 times this year with the same result.  My driller is incompotent anyway, but atleast he does stuff for me for free...lol

I definitly come around the ball, but doesn't this usually yeild a significantly lower track?  My track looks like I come up the back of it, but my release on tape looks like I spin the hell out of it, but in reality it is all thumb usage (I think).

What pitch should I try with avg thumb flexibility and around 4 3/8s-4 1/2 span
