Front 19 . .
« on: January 03, 2004, 05:57:03 AM »
A buddy of mine (youth bowler) shot 300-264-236-800 this morning, his 300 being the first game.  He shot 790 about a month ago, but prior to that, his high game had been 286, and his high series like 730-something.  Like the subject line says, he had the front 19, left a smash 7-10, and went off the sheet.  He was out of the pocket once, leaving a 2-8-10 on his second shot in the 10th.  He needed one pin for the 8, and BARELY breezed over the 8 pin.  It's an extreme wall house, and there's so much oil in the middle that he caught it and it flew.

Another "buddy" of mine (don't know him really well) shot 299-800 the following set.  I don't know what his other two games were though.  His previous high game was 289 and high series was a 740-something.

Nothing against my buddies, but this is a CAKE house, which means that even for youth bowlers, the accomplishments weren't all that special.  There's at LEAST one or two 300's per week, and probably an 800 or two every couple weeks.  This shot and Laneshield were new additions for the year, and already most of us have tagged it the spray n' pray capital of the world.  There have been so many honor scores by no-name 170 average bowlers that honor scores over there almost don't count.  If you get in a conversation and say, "I shot 300 or 800 the other day," and someone asks, "Where?" and you tell them it's that house, it's like "Oh, *rolls eyes,* really had to sweat it out, huh?"  It's like watching Shaq dunk or something.  Of course, there's a guy that claims that youth honor scores don't count, so I guess that's a double slam against both of them

"I pulled up behind a big rig that had gotten stuck under an overpass, and when the policeman got there, I saw him smile, and thought, 'My God, he can't say it . .'  Sure enough, he asks the trucker, 'Get your truck stuck?'  And bless his heart, without missing a beat, the trucker replied, 'Nope, I was deliverin' this overpass and ran out of gas.'  Here's your sign . . Another note to add.  I don't care who you are or where you're bowling, but when two 16 year old kids that have never shot anything near that big are faced with having to perform in the 10th frame TWICE in a set, overcoming those nerves is still impressive.  Couldn't be happier for them.

When I first saw the topic, and the origionator, I thought "he finally is going for 'legal' ladies"
But I guess that will never happen
Congrats to the "brats" !
Always nice to see people handle pressure well, and it gives them some confidence too.
Hopefully they will become "lifelong" members of the bowling community.
