Frustrated with league bowlers....
« on: September 01, 2009, 01:53:48 AM »
Why can't I have one bad night of bowling without someone calling me out on being a sandbagger the following week when I do bowl good.

First night of league, using my Dynamo-X and Gemstone.  I wasn't getting a good read with either ball.  I got frustated early one and carried that cross through all three games.  I don't remember what my set was but I ended up with 39 pin handicap!  YOUCH!  I've never had more than 5 pins handicap before.

So yesterday afternoon, I have new focus.  I pulled out my old Brunswick faitful - Wild Ride, Avalache Pearl, Avalanche Slide, (Smash Zone cracked).  I threw a few practice games during lunch and when I got to league night, I was ready.  My series for the night, 205, 235, 214.  I was happy as a clam but the opposing team immediately cried foul.

I got the stinky eye and a lot of grumbling.  As I was leaving the opposing team was chatting up the league president.

*sigh*  I love this game.

Most leagues out here in Vegas establish over 9 games, your scores would be a non issue that way.

Bowled on brand new easy lanes last night and shot 723, thank god for the 9 game rule otherwise I would be at 241. Just subbing this year but nobody will want me coming in that high, we will see in 2 weeks if I am right no bowling next week for labor day.

Most of the fun leagues I bowl on I really don't pay attention to the rules.  I always bypass that first league night meeting because the crap they come up with is laughable.

another reason for lifetime averages,

its funny with most league or bowlers in general, they get beat and immediately call sandbagging, I always remember those guys and as soon as they have a bad night and follow it up with a good night, or a bad set against my team and then the next set against us is way over I call it

dont let em get to ya, espcially early in the season everyone has big average swings for the most part

There should not even be handicap leagues. House shots are easy enough. Such a joke.

Yep, THS is pretty easy.

The funny increases when the shot changes even slightly.

"OMG, there's more oil.  I HAVE TO MOVE/ADJUST??!!"

I think the league I'm on is using one of the Kegel Recereational Series patterns.

The beginning of the year is always like that.  Start off slow and people think you're bagging.  Start off quick and you shoot yourself in the foot the next couple weeks.  One week does not make a bagger.

Our Thursday night league establishes over the first 3 weeks(9 games) the same as mrbowlingnut so as to try and put all bowlers on equal footing the first of a new season.

Whatever.  I don't know what your league handicap is, but let's say it's 80% of 220.  So, you bowl the first week and end up with 39 pins, so you've got about a 171 average.  Second week you shoot a 654 set for a 218 average.  Now you've got a 194-195 average.

Go tell those people to "f" off.  Tell them that you purposedly sandbagged the first night so you could come back and destroy them the next week to get the extra points......because points are so important 2 weeks into the season!  Tell them you did it intentionally just because you knew you were bowling them on the 2nd week!

easy,   when you use no name plastic one week and come back with good resin equipment the next week, you're a sandbagger.    Get rid of the sh-- balls or use them all the time.   That trick is so old, it has whiskers

Yeah, you sure told him!  He really d1cked over the whole league by bringing different balls the second week!  The audacity of some people!  I'm sure next year there will be a new rule in the league that you have to use the same balls every week!  As if leagues never change up the shot a few weeks into the season anyway!

No name plastic huh?  I'd better return the Dynamo-X and the Gemstone to my pro shop for misrepresenting the equipment he sold and drilled for me.  I had no idea I was using plastic.
