good news !

the final standings for our associations city tournament were posted today and for the most part i'm pleased at how i did. the team event was held in a little 8 lane center that no one on my team bowls league at. this house has 40 year old wood lanes that are actually in pretty good condition. early on the outsides were too slick to play out there so i played left of that----18 to 11 or so with my dull brunswick seige. shot 656.....second game killed me. every one else on my team had a horrible day. we finished 57th out of 67 teams.....ouch !!!!!  the singles & doubles portion of the tournament were held at a 32 lane center with 2 year old brunswick synthetic lanes. i found a great shot straight down 8 with my polished brunswick rattler. i shot 715 in singles and ended up having the high scratch score for the tournament. everyone thought the shot was difficult( only five players shot 700 series ). players who covered a lot of boards really struggled. my partner and i shot 1293 scratch in doubles.....that got us 6th place. he also used a rattler and played the same line. the carry really changed on this set. my scratch all-events score of 2048 got me 3rd place. there were 205 players in the singles portion of the tournament and there were 103 doubles teams that competed. the entries in all the portions of the tournament were down from previous years.......team usually averages about 100 entries. singles usually around 320 and usually around 160 doubles teams. this decline is disturbing to me and many players in our association( st. joseph, mo  5 centers ). all in all it was a good tournament for me but i wish i had several shots i could do over........
